SUMMARY:Perspectives by Scotts Project Trust
DESCRIPTION:Through colour\, texture and imagination\, the art students at the well-known Scotts Project Trust have transformed their vision of the outdoor world into beautiful artwork. \nFrom recreating subjects such as spring meadows to coral reefs\, nature has inspired their work in this exhibition. Come and see their vision! \nCreating art is an immersive and therapeutic experience\, a tactile and sensory process which encourages sharing and communication and helps with developing patience and dexterity. Art offers so much joy and self-expression to adults with learning disabilities and to us all. \nResidents and day services users at Scotts enjoy regular art workshops to create multi-media and mixed media artworks including textiles\, paint\, textures\, ceramics and papier mache. Just some of their talented output is on display here. \nAlison\, one of the artists\, says: “I enjoy using the different techniques of art. I love that our work will be on display for the public to see. I like how we have done group projects together and made something as a team\, as well as our own.” \nThe Scotts Project TrustA well‑established charity based in Tonbridge\, Kent\, dedicated to supporting adults with learning disabilities to realise their potential and live fulfilled\, happy lives. Founded in 1990 by Jill and Denis Scott\, the charity has grown to become a vital local provider of specialist support services\, guided by a strong ethos of respect\, choice and independence. \nScotts offers a range of interconnected services designed to meet people at different stages of their lives. SUMMARY:Summer Reading Challenge 2026 - Read to the Beat!
DESCRIPTION:This year’s Challenge is Read to the Beat!\, delivered by The Reading Agency in partnership with public libraries and powered by Universal Music Group UK. \nThe theme inspires children to explore the connection between stories and songs\, discovering how reading and music both ignite imagination and creativity. \nThis year’s Challenge is brought to life with illustrations by award-winning author and illustrator\, Harry Woodgate. \nChildren can join the Challenge at The Amelia Scott. \nHow it works:\nTell a member of staff you would like to sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge.\nThe librarian will sign up your child and give them a collector folder. Your child will set a reading goal.\nYour child can borrow and read books\, eBooks and audiobooks for their Challenge. They can read anything they like!\nThe library will provide stickers and rewards for your child’s reading.\n\nWhat is the Summer Reading Challenge?1 in 4 children cannot read well by the age of 11. This hugely limits their life choices and skills. We’re on a mission to change this. \nThe Summer Reading Challenge encourages children to keep reading during the summer holidays\, ensuring they are ready for a great start to the new term in the autumn. Children set a reading goal and collect rewards for reading anything they enjoy. Children can sign up at their local library or online\, and it’s FREE to take part.
