We offer a welcoming, inclusive space where curiosity is always encouraged. From early years sensory storytelling to school holiday activities and hands-on discovery days, our family programme is designed to inspire learning, laughter, and memories that last well beyond the visit.

• A beautiful children’s library, with cosy reading nooks tucked away for quieter moments
• A courtyard garden – a lovely spot for a secret picnic
• A café with its own kids’ menu
• Free weekly Story Time and Rhyme Time sessions
• A drop-in Discovery Day every school holiday, packed with creative activities
• A Relaxed Discovery Day for anyone who’d prefer a calmer, more tranquil pace

We want your visit to be as smooth and enjoyable as possible, especially with little ones in tow. Here’s everything you need to know.

Baby changing facilities are available in the toilets on both the ground floor and first floor, and there’s an accessible toilet on every level.

Breastfeeding is welcome anywhere in the building. If you’d prefer a quieter spot, just ask a member of staff and we’ll happily point you towards a peaceful space.

We’ve got the biggest buggy park you’ve ever seen, right on the ground floor. Just a heads-up that items are left at your own risk.

Fancy the quietest time to visit? Weekday mornings, just after opening, tend to be calmest.

Worth knowing: Rhyme Time is a firm favourite outside the Children’s Library on Tuesdays at 10am and 11am, and Thursdays at 10am — great fun, but lively. The café is usually busiest and noisiest around lunchtime too.

Looking for a calm corner? Head upstairs, where the library and galleries on the first floor offer a quieter atmosphere at any time of day.

All of our public spaces are wheelchair accessible.

We don’t currently have a Changing Places toilet on site – the nearest one is at Royal Victoria Place, Tunbridge Wells, open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 6pm, and Sunday from 10:30am to 4:30pm.
