We work closely with SEND schools and colleges to shape visits and sessions around your learners’ needs. From sensory stories to work experience days, we’ll help you find the right fit.

We can adapt our most popular learning sessions or create something new for your group – sensory stories, hands-on activities and work experience days are just a few examples of what we’ve done before.

Interested in bringing your group to us, or would you rather we visited your school instead? Get in touch and we’ll arrange a time to talk through what would work best for your learners.

Onsite sessions are free. Outreach sessions cost £90 for a 60 minute session.

Sensory Storytelling Circle

Before you visit

We’ve created a short Makaton-signed Access Film to help your learners know what to expect before their visit.

We’ve also worked with learners from The Oaks Specialist College to create a Visual Story for school groups, which you can downloaded here.

During your visit

Our site is located over 3 levels, all of which have level or lift access.

The Learning Room is a secure space, off the visitor route.  There are accessible toilet facilities, an area to store coats and bags, a water dispenser and an area which can be curtained off should any of your group require a quiet space during your visit.

We have a number of sensory backpacks which contains fidget items, magnifiers, ear defenders, visual timetables and a number of other resources to make our galleries more accessible for your learners.

Please note, Tuesdays and Thursday mornings can be busy as the library runs a Baby Rhyme Time session for under 5s, while afternoons in term time tend to be quieter.
