Did you know pupils can visit the Amelia for a day and earn a Trinity accredited qualification? 

Arts Award Discover is the start of the Arts Award adventure. It takes children and young people on an artistic journey as they explore the arts all around them, investigate different art forms, research an artist, and then share their discoveries with others.  

By taking their Arts Award Discover at The Amelia, children have the chance to focus on a local folk artist, eccentric 18th century tailor (or 'Professor of Peculiar Arts') George Smart. Children explore his artwork in our galleries before creating their own versions of the work he created from the offcuts he gathered during the course of his work as a tailor – the original upcycling!
